My name is Dr. Lizite Salzman and I am a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice in Carmel, IN. What is it like to work with you?
I'm not the type of therapist that sits silently and then says "uh huh" every few minutes. I am active in treatment and will teach you skills and strategies to help you overcome your anxiety or perfectionism. I don't believe therapy has to be a mysterious process, so I am open with you about my treatment recommendations and why I think they will help. This is your treatment and I want us to work in collaboration.
I also bring my sense of humor into the room. Laughter is so important to therapy! The problems that you are facing are certainly challenging, but being able to take a step back and laugh is a great coping skill and makes therapy so much more enjoyable. It will take hard work to achieve your goals, but therapy does not have to be intimidating, depressing or stressful. In fact, working to change your life can be invigorating and empowering.
